SurePulse win 2022 Medilink Business Award

We are delighted to announce that SurePulse Medical Ltd won the new East Midlands Medilink award this week for partnership between Academia and Business.  This is the third such award in the last 4 years including runner up in the National Awards.

This award recognises businesses that have demonstrated how a collaboration or partnership with academia has or will improve healthcare.  Four finalists were shortlisted from many East Midlands applicants and SurePulse were announced as winners at the Awards ceremony held the Crowne Plaza Hotel Nottingham on Thursday 27th January 2022.

James Carpenter, CEO of SurePulse Medical Ltd, commented: “Our mission is to improve the life chances for premature and sick babies and our partners at the University of Nottingham have given us a rich combination of clinical, technical and commercial expertise. We are delighted to win this award which means a lot to the whole team.”

Professor Don Sharkey, Professor of Neonatal Medicine and Technologies at the University of Nottingham and SurePulse’s Clinical Director is an academic neonatologist with significant experience in medical technology that improves newborn care. Don added: “Thanks to our academic and business partnership, translation of our research in partnership with SurePulse has led to our newborn devices being rolled out across the world and our aim is to improve the care that babies get at birth. This will improve long-term outcomes for these babies and their families.”

Professor Barrie Hayes-Gill, SurePulse’s Research Director and Professor of Electronic Systems and Medical Devices at the University of Nottingham highlighted that “The strong integration of business and academia has enabled SurePulse to accelerate product development and achieve timely regulatory approval in Europe and the US.”
